Why Go Cordless?
Convenience and ease of use are two of the most popular reasons to go for cordless window coverings. Beyond that, eliminating cords gives you a cleaner appearance at the window and reduces safety hazards for your pets and children. Dangling cords have been the cause of many injuries over the years, and cordless window treatments make that risk a thing of the past.
How Do Cordless Window Treatments Work?
Unlike traditional corded options, cordless shades and blinds have innovative interior setups that house cords and other components. Interior cords allow you to keep your window treatments securely in place without frequent adjustment. The only element that has to stay is the tilt wand for blinds. You can raise and lower your blinds with cordless methods, but the only way to tilt the slats is with a wand.
Which Window Coverings Can Be Cordless?
All Hunter Douglas window treatments, including roller shades, blinds, woven shades, and Roman shades, can have cordless lifting systems. You can also opt for interior shutters, which are inherently cordless and look great in homes with more traditional decor.
Cordless Systems from Hunter Douglas
- SimpleLift™: This system allows you to raise and lower blinds with a button on the bottom rail. Release the button when your blinds are at the desired height, and they will remain in that position. SimpleLift™ is available on Hunter Douglas wood, faux wood, and metal blinds.
- LiteRise®: Even easier than SimpleLift™, LiteRise® allows you to position your window treatments by gently pushing or pulling on the bottom rail. This cordless lifting system is available on most shades, including roller, sheer, Roman, and blinds.
- UltraGlide®: While not a cordless option, the UltraGlide® system features a retractable cord that remains a constant length to prevent dangerous dangling cords. You can equip many Hunter Douglas window coverings with UltraGlide®, including Designer Banded Shades, Duette® Cellular Shades, and Vignette® Modern Roman Shades.
- SoftTouch®: A battery-powered motorized lift system, SoftTouch® is ideal for homeowners who want the convenience of motorization without diving into the world of full automation. To open your shades, press the control wand up gently and release. Pull the wand in the opposite direction to close your shades and release. You can stop the shade when it is moving in either direction by pushing or pulling the wand.
- PowerView®: PowerView® Automation is the most advanced motorized system Hunter Douglas offers. With PowerView® Automation, you can operate most Hunter Douglas window treatments with an app or dedicated remote. You can even integrate PowerView® with your existing smart home system to control your shades or blinds with voice commands. You can set schedules and favorite positions for every window covering controlled by PowerView® Automation.
