Cellular shades are an attractive, energy-efficient window covering solution. The innovative cellular structure helps to keep your home at a comfortable temperature. Duette® Honeycomb Shades are crafted from premium fabric to resist fading and maintain their crisp pleats. You can keep your Duette® shades looking great by dusting them regularly to remove any surface debris. Use your vacuum’s brush attachment or a lint roller, and use horizontal strokes, so you don’t crumple the pleats. If you notice a stain, you can use warm water with a gentle detergent to blot the area. Avoid using hot water as it can damage the structure of your shades. Do not scrub your shades, as this can cause pilling of the fabric. Once you’ve finished cleaning the shades, leave them raised for a few hours to help the pleats hold their shape.

You can also clean Roman shades by using your vacuum’s brush attachment. Use your hand to support the fabric from the back to ensure you remove as much dust as possible. If your shades have any embroidery, use a feather duster as even low suction from a vacuum can cause damage. To remove stains or stubborn dirt, check if your shades are machine washable. If so, use a gentle detergent and a gentle cycle on your washing machine. After washing, lay your shades flat and use a towel to soak up excess moisture gently, then re-hang your shades to allow them to finish drying. Vignette® Modern Roman Shades are available in a wide range of fabrics. Talk to one of your design professionals if having a machine-washable fabric is important to you.

Window blinds are one of the more straightforward window treatments to clean and maintain. The only caveat to this is natural hardwood blinds which can be damaged by moisture. To care for Parkland® Wood Blinds, remove dust with a feather duster or microfiber cloth and condition at least once per month using a quality wood oil. EverWood® Alternative Wood Blinds and Modern Precious Metals® aluminum blinds can be dusted with the same methods as Parkland blinds, but you can remove stubborn dirt or fingerprints using a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Save yourself time by closing the slats, starting at the top, and working your way down to avoid having to dust the same area twice.
